Tay Ninh Agent Orange Community Center
|
|
|
More than a decade ago, the D.O.V.E. Fund has helped fund the construction
of homes for AO families in Quang Tri province. More recently, the D.O.V.E.
Fund financed major improvements and renovations to a Community Center to
assist families who have been affected with Agent Orange. The Center is
located in Tay Ninh province, an area where trustee Dan Gregg served
with the U.S. Army in 1969. Thanks to the generous contributions of
our donors, renovations to the facility include an expanded meeting
area, new restrooms and a larger, more efficient kitchen and dining
room. This center will allow caregivers to take a respite from the
constant care the AO stricken family member requires.

In late December of 2019, before COVID-19 Gregg and his wife, Linda,
traveled to Vietnam with the D.O.V.E. Fund to dedicate the new
buildings and meet the staff of the center. Our visit was both
emotional and uplifting. We were not prepared for the overwhelming
display of gratitude given to us by the patients, families and staff.
During his comments, Gregg noted that friends in the USA opened their
hearts to help heal one of the tragic legacies of Vietnam. And, as all
veterans of the D.O.V.E. Fund know, they are also healed when the
suffering of the innocent victims of war is lessened.

The Director and the staff of the Tay Ninh AO Community Center were
deeply touched by the empathy and compassion of the generous Americans.
Our work to help the people affected by Agent Orange goes on with the
expansion of resources and services to ease the suffering and bring
relief to the families caring for victims of AO/dioxin poisoning.
We are grateful for our donors and their continued support. Because
of you, life for some families in Vietnam is getting better.
Dan Gregg and Linda McConville
