Located a few miles south of Quang Tri’s provincial capital of
Dong Ha, the Trieu Giang commune is situated in a low-lying area
which is often flooded several times a year. Comprised of nearly
5500 people, Trieu Giang residents are mostly poor farmers growing
vegetables and rice along with raising pigs, chickens and cows.
A daycare center is vital to the children of Trieu Giang since
it allows parents to work the fields while the children are getting
an early start on their education.
After reviewing a proposal from local officials, the D.O.V.E. Fund
partnered with the District government to fund the building of a
new daycare center. The facilities include a kitchen, four
classrooms with new restrooms along with a storage warehouse.
Currently serving 115 students, the school has the capacity
to expand and will serve the community for years to come.
