Located in the eastern part of Cam Lo district, the small village of Cam Thanh is home to 682 families. With most of the population involved rice and vegetable farming, the average annual income is only $32 USD. As a result of the low incomes, the local government cannot support early education for many of the children. However, after reviewing a proposal submitted by local officials, the D.O.V.E. Fund committed to build additional facilities in 2013.

For years, the Cam Thanh Day Care Center had only 4 classrooms to accommodate nearly 250 children. Before the new school, many parents were forced to stay home and care for their children due to the inadequate facilities. When parents have to care for their children instead of working in the fields, income is reduced even further.

The expanded facility will help families maintain their incomes while providing hundreds of children with an improved environment to develop early learning skills.
