There were 12 primary schools in Quang dien, and over 3.400 pupils with inadequate hand washing or hygiene facilities and no soap. Additionally, awareness about how to protect themselves from the Covid-19 and other illnesses and personal hygiene are very low. In addition, the training courses on personal hygiene and infectious diseases prevention for children are limited, so that educational programs to improve sanitation and personal hygiene education and the respond and prevention to the Covid-19 at schools will be very useful for children and teachers.

To provide a safe schooling environment for children through the Covid-19 pandemic period, Hearts For Hue proposed a project named: “Improvement of the handwashing stations and personal hygiene practices for the pupils at primary schools in Quang dien district, Thua Thien Hue province, Vietnam”

This project was divided into three major steps for success.
Step 1: Training course for all of the teachers on personal hygiene and how to respond and prevent the Covid-19 at schools.

Step 2: Training courses on personal hygiene topic for pupils of primary schools with the support from teachers who attend ToT training before.

Step 3: Construction of handwashing stations at primary schools
