Guest auctioneers and WTOL personalities, Chrys Peterson and Jerry Anderson will return again this year
|
D.O.V.E. Fund members are busily preparing for this year's dinner auction. Held at the spacious Pinnacle Banquet Center in Maumee, OH on Saturday, August 22nd, the event is the highlight of the D.O.V.E. Fund's summer of fundraising to help the people of Vietnam. The evening will kick off at 5:00 when guests can enjoy a cocktail from the cash bar while browsing among over one hundred silent auction items including jewelry, artwork, wines and fashion items from Vietnam. An elegant sit-down dinner will commence at 6:15 followed by the live auction where WTOL personalities Chrys Peterson and Jerry Anderson will serve as guest auctioneers. D.O.V.E. Fund officer and Air Force veteran, Roland Southard, will serve as emcee for the evening's activities which will feature a tribute to WW II veteran, Lt. Col. Harold Brown, a member of the Tuskegee Airmen Red Tail Project.
Auction Committee Chairs Julie Abbey and Jill Grimm have promised a memorable evening where friends can enjoy dinner and look forward to spirited bidding for some wonderful items. As in previous years, recent travelers to Vietnam have returned with a variety of unique items that will be open for the highest bidder. In the past, these items have included clothing, furniture, jewelry and fine silks.
After dinner, guests will have time to check on their silent auction bids while previewing the long list of live auction items. Vacation seekers might be tempted by a weeks stay at Schmidt's 3Bed/3Bath Condo in Hilton Head, a one week stay in St. Lucia at a private 5 Bed/4 Bath Home with personal staff of 3, a 4 Day /3 Night Stay at Migis Lodge on Lake Sebago in Maine with all meals included, a Catawba Island Weekend for 4 or a 3 Day/2Night Stay at Scottish Inn "Glen Laurel" in Hocking Hills.
The sports men and women will find offerings such as the PNC Bank Suite for a Walleye Game for 12, Red Wing Tickets for 4, golf w/lunch for 4 at Travis Pointe, golf at Inverness for 3.
More adventurous? How about a Lake Erie Fishing trip, a Castalia fly fishing trip or an South African Safari Hunt or Photo Shoot.
Food and massage packages will also be available at the auction.

"This is our most popular event, says Chairman Tim Kearney, we always make things a little better each year". Kearney, a Vietnam veteran and longtime D.O.V.E. Fund trustee says there will be a brief presentation about recent projects including the expanding P.E.T. Mobility Chairs program, Solar Lights and scholarships for poor but deserving students. "We will also focus on the great need that still exists among the disadvantaged throughout Vietnam", added Kearney.
Those interested in attending this year's event can reserve a table that seats ten guests for a tax-deductible donation of $750. Individual tickets may be purchased at $85 each.
